Mind, Language, and Society
May 2004 (18-27. 05. 2004)

We begin with an account of the biologically fundamental forms of intentionality and show how language and society can be developed from these forms. The theory of speech acts is grounded in more fundamental features of the mind, and the addition of collective intentionality enables us to explain the construction of social reality.

Readings (all books are by Professor John Searle):
Mind, Language, and Society;
Minds, Brains, and Science;
The Construction of Social Reality.
Other recommended books by Professor John Searle:
Speech Acts;
Expression and Meaning;
Intentionality: An Essay in the Philosophy of Mind;
The Rediscovery of the Mind.
