ACQUISITION OP SOCIAL KNOWLEDGE FROM PERSPECTIYE OF RESEARCH ON CHILDREN'S THEORIES OF MIND

Abstract. The main aim of the article is to prove that research on children's theories of mind create new possibilities to understand acquisition of knowledge concerning social world. Social understanding, that is understanding of adults, other children and oneself, has been examined by cognitive developmental psychologists and has been seen for many years as a process dependent on cognitive development. From the children's theories of mind perspective (Flavell, 1988; Wellman, 1990; Astington, 1993) the nature of social knowledge is a process of constructing a theory or model of social world and of a person as a social being. Moreover research on prerequisites of theories of mind emphasize complex and rich social knowledge of eyen two- three-year-olds.
