Chair of the Sociology of Law and Human Rights

The Chair, previously known as the Chair of Philosophy of Law, was headed by Professor Hanna Waśkiewicz (1919-1993). It has its roots in the pre-war period and  its main fields of research and teaching include: philosophy; theory  and sociology of law and human rights. Since the beginning of the 1980's the CHair has organised an annual conference. This year's conference, The Days of Human Rights is our 26th in the series and considered recent research and publications dealing with the Leon Petrażycki tradition in theory and sociology of law, the natural law theories, the right to privacy in the United States, relations between law and religion, the role of NGOs in the human rights protection and the problem of the legal status of animals.
