Department of the Philosophy of God
Departament of the Philosophy of God was founded in 2005. Its domain is the research of the philosophical theory of the Absolute and the philosophy of the society and politics. The subject matter of the philosophical theory of the Absolute (in its historical and systematical aspects) are various ideas of the Absolute, especially those of the ancient thought (Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus), as well as the medieval (St. Thomas Aquinas), modern (Cartesius, Kant) and contemporary ones (Hegel, Whitehead, Marion).
The research is based on the source documents and the temporary state of knowledge. It is related to the argumentation of the existence of the Absolute, description of His nature and His relation with the world and the human being. The significant problems in these studies are the idea of the Plotine's Absolute and his philosophy as a philosophical religion and, moreover, the phenomenon of the atheism and the secularism.
In connection with the philosophy of society and politics, the subject of the research is the problem od the human beeing as a person who is the subject of the social and political life. In this case, both historical and systematical aspects are taken into consideration. The research refers to the thought of Plato, Aristotle, as well as to the classical philosophy and personalism (K. Wojtyła - John Paul II, J. Maritain, M. A. Krąpiec).
The Departament leads two seminars. The master's seminar is called The Seminar of the Social Pgilosophy and the Philosophy of God. 39 master's degrees were written within this seminar. Their subject matter was connected with the God and religion (by Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Cartesius, Hegel, Feuerbach, Marcel, Sartre), faith, sanctity, atheism, humanism, civilization, state, society and political system. 14 doctoral degrees are preparing within the doctoral seminar. Their subject matter is, among others, the question of feminism ideology, laicity, evolutionism, transplantation, perfection of human being and happiness, the concept of God in the analitical philosophy or the concept of the university.
