ETHICAL STANDARDS


1. Requirements for editors:

- fulfilling their duties in a fair and honest way;

- avoiding in their activity any discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, worldview, ethnicity or geographical origin of authors;

- being guided in the choice of the texts proposed for publication only by the criteria of their scientific value;

- accepting and considering possible complaints regarding violation of good ethical practices, as well as allowing the authors accused of such practises to make reply and engage in polemics, also keeping documentation related to the situations described above.

 

2. Requirements for reviewers:

- reliable, objective and timely review of publications submitted for evaluation;

- observing the confidentiality with regard to all materials provided by the editors, including refraining from copying and keeping them;

- notifying the editors of any potential violation of the standards of academic ethics and conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, personal, etc.) related to the reviewed submissions.

 

3. Requirements for authors:

- submitting for publication only original texts written in accordance with the principles of academic reliability, previously unpublished and not intended for publication in other publishing houses;

- in the case of accepting the text for print, transferring by the Author of the publication rights to Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, which is the publisher of the journal;

- revealing possible co-authorship and third parties’ contribution to the creation of the text, as well as the participation of scientific and research institutions, associations and other scientific entities;

- submitting a written statement that the work (article) submitted to the editors of “Studia Norwidiana” is free from bad practices such as “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship” (“honorary authorship”)

- submitting a statement that the illustrative materials provided by the Author have established copyrights and specific bibliographical sources for the purpose of a one-time edition;

- notifying the editors or the publisher of the need to make errata, complete, correct or withdraw the text form publication;

- notifying the editors or the publisher of any potential conflicts of interest in relation to the submitted text;

- consenting to publishing text on the website after 3-6 months from the date of the volume publication in print.

 

4. Requirements for the publisher:

- supervising the publishing process in order to maintain good academic practices that are compliant with the standards described above.

 

PROCEDURES IN CASE OF VIOLATION OF ETHICAL STANDARDS

    1. The violation of ethical standards in relation to the published content may be identified by the editors, reviewers or third parties
    2. In each case, such identification of a standard violation must be verified and then properly justified.
    3. The procedure for identifying the violation of ethical standards is conducted by the journal’s editorial team who are responsible for gathering the necessary evidence and keeping the entire procedure confidential until it is finished.
    4. The Author against whom allegations have been made has the right to respond to them.
    5. The following consequences of unethical actions are to be expected (depending on the level of violation of ethical standards):

- the Author is instructed on his/her misconduct;

- the Author is sent an official letter specifying the violation and educating about similar practices;

- a statement of the Editorial Board is published in the journal, describing the particular case of violation of ethical standards;

- an official letter is sent to the institution with which the Author is affiliated;

- withdrawal of the publication.
