Servant of God Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński - doctor of canon law and a graduate of the Faculty of Canon Law, Catholic University of Lublin; he was conferred the honor for his contribution to the dissemination of philosophical knowledge and for scientific achievements in the province of Christian philosophy, especially social ethics, and for his work for the Faculty of Christian Philosophy during his term as the Grand Chancellor of the Catholic University of Lublin; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Christian Philosophy (1949).

 

Fr. Prof. Gommar Michiels - Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law (1924-1928 and 1931-1935) - for a long, dedicated work for the University, and especially for his input in the organization of studies and his outstanding work as a tutor and researcher, which garnered the University country and Europe-wide recognition; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Theology (1957).

 

Bishop Prof. Piotr Kałwa - Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law (1939 and 1946-1950) - for his dedication to the Catholic University of Lublin during his 30-years of work as a professor; for exemplary research and teaching achievements, especially in the field of Polish ecclesiastical law; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Theology (1958).

Venerable Servant of God John Paul II - in admiration for the integrity of his doctrine on human dignity and value of the human person, as well as for unrelenting defense of human rights in the modern world; the honor granted by common consent of all the University faculties (1983).

 

Prof. Paul Mikat - for outstanding scientific achievements and contribution to the Catholic University of Lublin, linked to his political and social activity; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Canon and Secular Law (1990).  

 

Bishop Prof. Eugenio Corecco - for his superior contribution to the development of canon law; the honor proposed by the Faculty of Canon and Secular Law (1994).

 

Archbishop Szczepan Wesoły - for his contribution to fostering the spiritual heritage of the Polish nation and promotion of Christian culture among Polish communities abroad made during his kard_Grocholowski.jpgoverseas pastoral service and while serving as a delegate of the Polish Primate for emigrant ministry; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Canon and Secular Law (1996).

 

Cardinal Prof. Zenon Grocholewski - for his exceptional contribution to the development of the study of canon law and promotion of the legal culture of the Catholic Church in the contemporary world; for the ecclesiastical significance of his ministry at the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura and promotion of Poland world-wide; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Canon and Secular Law (1999).

 

Prof. Bernd Rüthers - in recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements in the theory of law and efforts aimed to rest law on a system of moral values in accordance with the teachings of the Church; for his contribution to the research on building employee relations conforming to the Catholic social teaching; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration (2000).

 

Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk - for adhering to the mission of the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland  marked by great concern for the Roman Catholic Church in Poland and the Polish nation; in recognition of his achievements in the normalization of the Church's condition in Poland; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration (2001).

 

Cardinal Prof. Peter Erdö - in recognition of his output as an eminent canon law expert investigating the history of the sources and literature of canon law, matrimonial law, the law of the holy sacraments, concordat law and the problems of the relationships between rites. In his work and activities, he always attaches special attention to the significance of the Gospel and Christian values in European and world progress; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration (2005).

 

Cardinal Prof. Tarcisio Bertone - for a significant contribution to the study of canon law as a scholar and Secretary of State of the Holy See during the reform of public ecclesiastical law, inspired by the Second Vatican Council and concerning the relations between the Catholic Church and political and international communities; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration (2009).

 

Prof. Lech Kaczynski - as a token of respect and appreciation for the manner of exercising the authority of President of the Republic of Poland; for initiating and strengthening understanding among nations; for active participation in Polish public life; for reinforcing Poland's presence in the international arena; for a steadfast safeguarding of the national dignity, independence and security; for accepting the country's welfare and citizens' prosperity as the highest dictate; the honor was proposed by the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration (2009).
