It is an honour to welcome You to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research – a scientific research establishment under the auspices of The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research (CIR) was founded within the Faculty of Biotechnology and Environment Sciences (“Poczekajka” campus). It serves both the academia and the broader community in the region. CIR aims to support the development of natural sciences at The John Paul II Catholic University and to establish cooperation with research teams operating within different branches of science to conduct extensive interdisciplinary scientific research.

The CIR structure comprises six laboratories, established for innovative research and applications within the natural sciences:

  • The Laboratory of Biocontrol, Production and Application of Entomopathogenic Nematodes (EPN);
  • The Laboratory of Confocal and Electron Microscopy;
  • The Laboratory of X-ray Optics;
  • The Laboratory of Oxidative Stress;
  • The Laboratory of Separation and Spectroscopic Method Applications;
  • The Laboratory of Composite and Biomimetic Materials.

The CIR laboratories are furnished with modern research equipment allowing us to carry out research at the highest level, as well as unique instruments designed especially for the purpose of scientific areas being developed here. The research undertaken in the aforementioned units belongs to such disciplines as biology, chemistry, medicine, pharmacy, cosmetology, healthcare, X-ray optics, human nutrition, environment protection, biotechnology, agriculture, forestry and building construction.

The modern and innovative CIR brings together research teams from different branches of science and specialised groups – practitioners, who often seek support to solve scientific and technical problems in their daily work. The rich experience and practical knowledge of the CIR staff – experts in biology and chemistry – is reflected in numerous scientific publications and guarantees successful solutions to research problems.

The mission of CIR is to integrate knowledge, science and entrepreneurship, innovation and the use of modern technologies, within the Lubelskie region. We can assist entrepreneurs facing challenges concerning product improvement, quality control or environmental protection. We are also eager for partnership with other research teams in order to enhance the scientific potential of the Lubelskie region and to contribute to its development.

You are kindly invited to get acquainted with the CIR laboratories, and I look forward to our future cooperation.
