Der Verfasser befasst sich in diesem Artikel mit dem Leben und wissenschaftlicher Tätigkeit von Dietrich von Hildebrand, des deutschen Philosophen und Theologen, des Vertreters der phänomenologischen Richtung in der Philosophie. Der Verfasser zeigt zuerst den Lebenslauf von Dietrich von Hildebrand, dann sein philosophisches und theologisches Schaffen. In dem philosophischen Bereich bespricht er seine erkenntnistheoretischen, metaphysischen, anthropologischen und axiologischen Anschauungen. Weiterhin zeigt der Verfasser die theologischen Anschauungen von Dietrich von Hildebrand, die besonders die Moraltheologie, die christliche Spiritualität und die Liturgie betreffen.

Authorities and Masters - Reflections on Culture

The paper discusses the usage of words such as "master" and "authority" aiming at a better understanding of the conceptions they convey, particularly, but not exclusively, in the context of European cultural tradition. The best illustration of the two terms can be found in the teaching of John Paul II and in his early philosophical works. Attention has been paid to similarities and differences between the meanings of the two ideas.

The mosaic of the Englihtenment school reforms in the German states grew out of a criticism of the traditional school. On the one hand it bore no relationship with everyday practice, and on the other there were some drawbacks in teaching linguistic subjects. The Enlightenment counterproposal in the first case was apparent, above all, in the milieu of pietism and philanthropism; in the second case it concerned mainly the milieus of rising neo-humanism. Speaking symbolically, the two tendencies were carried out in the reforms implemented, respectively, in the universities of Halle and Göttingen.

Pastoral Tasks of Families

The author refers to the question of pastoral tasks of families. It is a substantial problem, because contemporary family subjects to the influence of vast, deep and fast social transformations. This is why the pastoral care of family becomes nowadays an urgent necessity and should be treated as a first-rate pastoral sphere of Church activity. Church should intensively make real above mentioned tasks. The author doesn't mean a single ‘action,' but a permanent fulfillment of current purposes.

Why Human Being Needs of Catechesis? About Different Dimensions of Catechesis

This study, in spite of being an apologue of catechesis, focuses on justification necessity of catechesis in life of man's present-day. Firstly it was defined what the catechesis is in its basic meaning, in what manifests its need and meaning, what should be, who and where should it lead as well as to whom should be directed. In the next part of this paper the role of family catechesis, as proper and privileged place establishing of moral virginities, was discussed. Forms of children catechization, what parents should apply, were specified as well as postulated content of catechesis, mechanisms, thanks which this catechesis stays effective. In the final part attention was turned towards contemporary threats of social-political and cultural-religious life, signaled in two initial paragraphs of study. In their existence you can perceive the problem of reconciliation of conflicting requirements of sphere the sacrum and sphere the profanum in which people participate. Catechesis sense largo should prepare the man to activity in different fields of life. This one, acting her science, staying active in dimension of social and worldly life, becomes simultaneously active in dimension of supernatural life. So understood catechesis, led also by groups, associations and religious movements, will permit believers adequately to read reality, to solve dilemmas, to undertake decisions and to live in these two worlds without falling in conflict of contradiction.

The Problem of Ethics in Research Work

High responsibility lies heavy on each scientist's mind. The main aim of scientific activity is to search for, to recognize and to propagate the truth. When the laws of good manners in science are transgressed and research worker goes counter to the ethical rules, he/she departs from the truth and - as a matter of fact - creates something like an anti-science. Authors of the article want to show the relation of the scientist to his research work and the truth. In particular they refer to the question of dishonesty in the research. Consequences of such attitude, especially in this sphere, can be dangerous for human culture. In this case we have to look for an answer to this problem. High standards of honesty and precise observance of scientific ethical code must be an indispensable attribute of each scientist's activity. No wonder that the urgent necessity of working out the Code of Scientific Ethics is perceived in many scientific environments in the world.

Postawy moralne mieszkańców prawobrzeżnej części Sandomierza względem Dekalogu
Attitudes Moral Inhabitants Rightside of Sandomierz towards Decalogue

The studies present moral attitudes of citizens of right-bank part of Sandomierz in relation to Catholic Church's model of morality. Rules and behaviours are shown by the Decalogue that is seen as a complete formula of moral law. Basing on the data received it was found that Christian life rules are respected more by men then by women. The same conclusion was reached when there were well-educated persons taken into consideration. Their behaviours, in regard to moral rules presented by Catholic Church, were more rigorous then those presented by persons after primary or secondary school. From the other side there was a confirmation a hypothesis that the older somebody is the bigger conformity attitude in respect of catholic ethics he has. There was also the positive verification of a hypothesis concerning acceptance of socio-moral rule ‘do not steal' in relation to the social and private ownership.

Life Skills Creation in Pre-School and School Education - the Evaluation of Schools and Institutions Promoting Health

The article discusses the issue of creating life skills in school education. Firstly, it presents the theoretical basis concerning life skills creation, emphasising the records in "Basic curriculum of different stages of pre-school and school education" and the division of life skills suggested by WHO. Secondly, it introduces the project of life skills creation which intended to take the action since the very early stages of children's life beginning at pre-school and early school stage through the II, III, and IV stage of school education. The main aim of the article is to present the results of evaluation carried out in certain chosen kindergartens and schools. It describes the organization of the research (aim, methods and techniques) and then analyses the results at each educational stage. The result analysis indicates the changes in children's behaviour in their home, peer and school environment. The changes in students' attitude concern: their culture, non-violent problem solving and better relationship with peers and adults. In conclusion it is vital to include life skills creation in school education.

Parental Authority in Perception of Secondary School Students. Comparative Study Based on the Survey of Students in Sandomierz and Chobrzany

The article discusses the problem of parental authority in secondary school students' perception. The primary question of the study was to find out whether parents have authority over teenagers. Moreover, it aimed to establish whether adolescents are in the state of a conflict, that is accepting parental authority while rebelling against it; also, whether the thesis brought up in some, especially common and journalistic discourses suggesting the crisis of parental authority, is well grounded; whether there are any differences in the perception of parental authority between urban and rural school environment; and finally, whether the frequency of practicing religion activities correlates with acceptance of parental authority. Questionnaire survey based on which I obtained my empirical material was carried out by me in 2002 and 2004 in a municipal secondary school (No. 1 General Secondary School Collegium Gostomianum in Sandomierz) and in a village secondary school (Stefan Żeromski General Secondary School in Chobrzany). In total, I surveyed 317 respondents, the great majority being 18-year-olds. The study of the survey revealed that parents, in particular a mother, had authority over the great majority of adolescents, at the same time placing themselves on the top of the list of all authorities. The authority was determined, however, by the frequency of participation in religious practices: the more frequent the participation the greater maternal or paternal authority in the perception of students. The power of parental authority was confirmed by the fact that parents were considered by the surveyed as the main inspiration for development of their life attitudes and choices (such as education and profession) and a good example from mother or father - as the most important feature determining their authority. Among the youths I found no symptoms of the conflicting situation, i.e. accepting parental authority but rebelling against it at the same time. I found, however, one characteristic feature which might be considered as a sign of the paternal authority crisis: a father seemed to enjoy less authority than a mother and what is most significant - contrary to a mother - a small number of surveyed adolescents could count on him in difficult life situations and was seeking his acceptance. The study confirmed the thesis that there is a visible difference between the perception of parental authority by urban and rural school environment. In the latter case parents maintained more authority than in the city: family (nota bene also authorities from outside the family) had greater influence on the youths' attitudes and life choices; the maternal authority being ranked a little higher; also absolute value of the authority (respect towards parents irrespective of their faults and virtues) was higher. In the urban school environment students perceived authority of both parents in a more egalitarian way than in rural school environment where the primacy of a mother's authority over a father's one was distinctive.
