Biography

 

The Rev. Marek Pytko, (born May 4, 1966, in Rzeszów, Poland) is an assistant at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communications in the Department of Culture and Media.

Studies of Philosophy, Papal Academy of Theology (PAT) in Cracow, Poland, (1986-1988); Baccalaureate in theology, Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), in Lublin  Poland, (1991-1995); Worked as a teacher of religion in Grammar School in Puławy, Lublin, Poland, (1995-1997); Studies of Philosophical Anthropology, Faculty of Theology and Philosophy in Florence, Italy, (1997-1999); P.H.D. in Faculty of Social Communication of Holy Cross University in Rome, Italy, (1999-2005).

The work in media started as a journalist at the Catholic Agency of Information (KAI) as a correspondent from Rome to Warsaw, Poland (2003-2005). In the years 2005-2007 he was a director of Archdioceses Radio "eR" (www.radioer.pl), in Lublin Poland. Created and conducted live programs in Polish and English language. Participated in numerous radio programs, discussions and interviews.

From 2007, conducted lectures at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communications and Postgraduate Faculty of Social Communications and Journalism in Catholic University of Lublin, Poland.  From 2007 conducted lectures in Ethics and Social Teachings of the Catholic Church, Academy of Bogdan Jański in Chełm, Poland.

During summer time (1997-2008) pastoral work in different countries: Prato, Firenze, Italy); Rennertshofen, Augsburg, (Germany); Nottingham, (England), Chicago IL, USA, Cleveland OH, (USA); Ocala, Orlando, Lakeland, Miami, FL, (USA); Long Island, New York, (USA).

 

Science interests: Church and mass media, history of media, sciences of communication, interdisciplinary of social communication, ethics and media.
