Research in the Institute of Roman Studies KUL is concentrated on four general groups of problems:


I Trends and Challenges in Modern Romance Literature:
- history of ideas, trends in nineteenth and twentieth century novels, picturality of dramatic text, interference of literary genres.


II French and Francophone Drama


III Linguistics:

- contrastive problems in modern syntax and semantics of Romance languages and Polish.
- processes of constructing the meaning in compounds in general and specialized texts, realization of conceptual metaphor.


IV Psycholinguistics and Applied Linguistics:

- second language acquisition (French) in institutional environment-Polish secondary school.
- analysis of learning and teaching strategies.
