representations of foreign capital. Two kind of questionnaires were used: one open
format and the other (in a second stage) closed-format. In the study took part 171
subjects from private and state firms. Subjects were asked to give assotiations to the
word "foreign capital", to indicate social groups connected with foreign capital and to
estimate why foreign capital have appeared on Polish market. The way of understand-
ing of the economic phenomenon and attitudes toward them were investigated too. Two
representations were elicted: Strong Differentiate and Moderate. The study confirmed
the relationship between kind of representation, an area of economic experience and
level of education. Most of people employed in private firm and people with high level
of education shared Moderate representation, whereas Strong Differentiate representa-
tion was anchored in group of state workers and people with elementary education.
