Stres i depresja u matek a zachowania dzieci z autyzmem w zmodyfikowanej obcej sytuacji.
STRESS AND DEPRESSION IN MOTHERS AND THE BEHAVIOR OF CHILDREN WITH AUTISM IN THE STRANGE SITUATION

Abstract. Autistic disorder in child is a major source of difficult problems for parents. These problems contribute to experiencing by parents a high level of stress and depres-sion. Conversely, these phenomena may affect the child's development, the relationships with parents, and the development of attachment. A potential ability of children with autism to establish emotional bonds with close relatives is the controversial issue. The purpose of this study was the analysis of behavior the 4-6-year old children with autism in a modified strange situation, and the relationships between their behavior and the levels of stress and depression in mothers. Twelve children with autism, eleven with Down syndrome, ten normally developing children, and their mothers participated in the study. On the basis of hierarchical cluster analysis, three groups of children were extracted, representing three distinct patterns of mother related behavior. The highest level of stress and depression was found in mothers whose children were seeking a continuous contact with mother.
