3. Why did you decide to apply in the Erasmus+ programme?

When I was in high-school a group of students who had studied abroad with Erasmus came at my class and explain a lot of things about it to us. Since that time I was really excited about the idea to study with Erasmus somewhere in Europe. When my university study abroad office told me about the Erasmus+ I was really excited and I accepted it because:

  • I wanted to broaden my horizons by experiencing living in a different culture
  • I wanted to adopt new learning methods and to upgrade my knowledge in the field of biotechnology and to get new experience for future career
  • It was my first time when I was so far away from my country and I started living independently
  • A great opportunity to get in touch with Polish culture and to meet new people from around the world
  • I improved my communication skills in the English language

4. Your personal experience/what did you like about your mobility/what did you gain thanks to it?

Thinking about those 5 months that I have been living/studying in Poland I can say out loud that it was one of my best experience in the lifetime.
Here:

  • I was able to live on my own for the first time and learn to manage and control my funds which I do believe it is crucial for everyone.
  • I got to get to know better my strengths and weaknesses.
  • I am more able to adapt and act in new situations.

During this time, as long as I have met many wonderful people from different countries I got to get to know their cultures and mine too from their eyes.
Professors in this university are total professionals, we were always pleasure to ask them questions at any time, to discuss together and we were exchanged common ideas. Furthermore, I got to discover Poland and travel around to some countries which I perhaps never would’ve decided to visit.
After this experience, I am more aware of the social and political life of my community.

5. Why would you recommend it to others?

Erasmus+ will be an excellent investment in the future which will help you to grow in many ways. Everyone who is going to have this chance definitely has to try it.
Poland is the perfect city to study in because it is very inexpensive so you save money in your “new home” allowing for more funds to be used for travel and exploration. Especially here in Lublin where I am sure that everyone is going to find themselves. Lublin is for everyone who loves winter and for everyone who loves spring. You can find everything near to each other here (outdoor museums, remarkable nights during festival days, lakes and everything else).

I cannot let without mention KUL which have a really great staff who works a lot to make you feel like you are in home.
- Administrative support arrangement will give you many day trips and dinners not just during orientation days but also throughout the whole semester. Also, they will take care of everything that will affect you during this period.
- Academic mentoring will help you in any struggle that you may have during this time not just in university but also in daily life.
- Professors will help you with any question that you may have in your field of studies.
- Last but not least, the guardian angels who assigned to help you acclimate to Lublin.

It’s a unique opportunity to discover something new, experience living by yourself, meet new people, and to improve your language skills. Don’t lose this chance. New success starts with Erasmus...
As most of us say that: ”Erasmus is not one semester/year in your life, It’s your life in one semester/year”!!!

As international student from Croatia, who is studying abroad, I understood really early how exploration and cross-cultural communication is important for one`s personal growth and development.
