Studies in Institute of Pedagogy

 

Since 2006 alongside with traditional 5-year long pedagogical studies in Institute of Pedagogy new type of studies have been designed. According to Bologna process the studies were divided into two modules: bachelor and master.

Studies of the primary level last 3 years (6 semesters) and after graduation students receive the job title of bachelor (BA). The programme of regular intramural and extramural studies (with the use of e-learning facilities) accents that students should be equipped with basic pedagogical knowledge and professional competencies for work in care and educational institutions of different profile and type. After general issues at the beginning, since the 4th semester, intensive specialist practical preparation starts. Graduates should possess general pedagogical, sociological and psychological knowledge necessary for understanding social and cultural context of education, formative and care work. They possess also practical skills in the sphere of social communication and diagnostic procedures. These studies form the basis for suitable professional preparation, development of ability to reflect one's professional role and deepening of understanding of educational reality. Graduates of professional baccalaureate pedagogical studies get a job title of bachelor in a chosen specialisation:

  1. general pedagogy and social work;
  2. school pedagogy;
  3. pedagogy of family;
  4. care and education pedagogy and preventive pedagogy;
  5. special psychopedagogy with elements of speech therapy;
  6. pedagogy of culture animation.

Depending on the specialisation chosen in Institute of Pedagogy the following specialists are educated: 

  • Ad. 1/ lecturers and teachers of Pedagogy, pedagogues of social work, researchers and theorists in the field of surveying the reality of education that is discovered in a concrete educational and formative activity;
  • Ad. 2/ school pedagogues (counsellors), programmists of educational institutions' activities, managers and pedagogues of different educational, formative and care institutions,
  • Ad. 3/ pedagogues of family prepared to provide help to families, especially in case of alienation, social dysfunction, deviation behaviour and alcohol, drug and other abuses
  • Ad. 4/ specialists equipped in social and educational competencies in the field of education and formation and  educational therapy both in different developmental periods and in the sphere of therapy of social dysfunction and care and educational activities
  • Ad. 5/ special psychopedagogues equipped in competencies in the education in special institutions, able to maintain helpful contact with people with difficulties and skilful in proper therapies, able to search the reality of education and formation with the use of adequate scientific tools, especially in the field of communication with hearing impaired.
  • Ad. 6/ teachers, pedagogues and researchers for the field of cultural, religion and media activities and in the sectors of specialist formation in monasteries, theological seminaries, lay institutes; cultural and religion animators active in Church groups, cultural and education institutions, religion movements, in free time activity centres and children and youths clubs.

 

Secondary level studies (MA studies) of Pedagogy last 2 years (4 semesters) and its graduates receive a title of MA in Pedagogy. Graduates of MA Pedagogy studies are equipped with suitable theoretical interdisciplinary preparation. They possess skills necessary for designing scientific research and extensive skills for reflexive and deep practical pedagogical work, connected with selecting and solving theoretical and practical problems. The graduates are prepared for work in above mentioned specialisations and their education can be continued during post-graduate and doctoral studies. They possess competencies for work as a pedagogue, therapist and counsellor in different educational fields, in care and education institutions, culture animation, institutions that aim at social dysfunction prevention and jurisdiction institutions.
