Through a generous donation by John W. Kluge, qualified scholars are invited to conduct humanistic and social science research that makes use of the Library’s large and varied collections – an outstanding assemblage of multilingual books and periodicals; the world’s largest law library; and special collections of manuscripts, maps, music, films, recorded sound, prints, and photographs. Interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, or multilingual research is particularly welcome. Twelve postdoctoral fellows are selected annually for Kluge Fellowships through an open international competition.

 

Scholars, who have received within the past seven years a terminal advanced degree in the humanities, social sciences, or in a professional field such as architecture or law, are eligible and are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have obtained the degree by the application deadline. Fellowships are awarded for periods of up to eleven months at a stipend of $4.200 per month.
