Najpełniej realizuje człowieka odpowiedzialne korzystanie z wolności. Wolność urzeczywistnia się przez miłość, rozumianą jako dar z samego siebie. Dramat ludzkiej wolności wynika z grzechu, z zaprzeczenia prawdy o sobie samym. Chrystus w pełni realizuje sens ludzkiej wolności przez miłość.

In the anthropology of John Paul II, freedom is strictly connected to the phenomenon of a person. Man affirms himself through freedom, which determines his moral life. Freedom is a feature of the created human nature; it belongs to man’s ontological structure. Becoming a person permanently through acts makes transcendence possible. Freedom is realised and actualised in the human through their personal choice of the actual good. The truth is a guarantee of the proper use of freedom. What realises the human most fully is making use of freedom responsibly. Freedom is fulfilled through love understood as a gift of oneself. The drama of human freedom stems from the sin, from the negation of the truth about oneself. Christ fully realises the sense of human freedom through love.
