Pojawia się zatem wołanie o ugruntowaną syntezę, wykraczającą poza ekonomiczne i polityczne rozwiązania, o „wspólnotę ducha”, jako kryterium wszystkich innych działań, aby można oprzeć się pokusom egoizmu indywidualnego i grupowego. Taką syntezęstanowi europejska kultura, uważana za uniwersalistyczną, ponieważ od początku związaną jest z chrześcijaństwem rozumianym jako zwycięstwo demitologizacji; poznania opartego na syntezie wiary i życia.

Summary

The process of uniting Europe’s nations as a peculiar sing of the times is equally as irreversible as ambivalent, when it comes to both the issue of unity and identity of particular nations, and secularisation and the need for religion. Therefore, what is necessary is a solid synthesis, which goes beyond economic and political solutions and a “union of the spirit” as a criterion of all other actions in order to resist the temptations of individual and group egoism. Such a synthesis is constituted by the European culture, which is thought to be universalist, because since the beginnings it is connected with Christianity understood as the victory of demythologisation; the cognition based on the synthesis of faith and life.
