The family drawing belongs to projective methods. The interpretation of the drawing derives from the mechanism of projection understood as the transfer of the content, aspects of the whole personality, e.g. needs or emotions, on test material. What the investigatet subject expresses in his/her drawing is thus believed to correspond not only to the objectitive of the surrounding world but also to an individualised attitude towards this reality, an individual mode of perceiving it.
