THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TEMPERAMENT AND AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOUR AND THE THREAT OF DEPENDENCE ON ALCOHOL IN THE LIGHT OF J. STRELAU’S REGULATORY THEORY OF TEMPERAMENT: A REPORT ON THE RESEARCH.

Summary.  The paper seeks to show the findings of a research on the relationship between temperament and aggressive behaviour and the threat of alcohol dependence presented on the basis of J. Strelau’s regulatory theory of temperament. The reserach was carried out in two separate and analogical groups of Katowice and Kraków university students. The following iventories were used for assessment: Formal Characterization of Behaviour (Pol. FCZ-KT) by Zawadzki and Strelau (1997), “A” Engs Questionnaire (1975), as adapted by Bałabuszko-Sławińska, “Moods and Whims” Questionnaire by Buss and Durkee (1957), the version adapted by Choynowski, Kosewski, Ostrihańska and Wójcik (1967). The findings have proved that there is a relationship between emotional reactivity and various forms of aggression and the threat of alcohol dependence. Moreover, the results of the research point that the kionds of aggressive behaviour (especially, irritation, resentment and guilt) are connected with perseveration, whereas the threat of dependence is connected with briskness and sensory sensitivity.
