TWO TURNING POINTS IN THE RESEARCH ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

The paper contains some reflections on the key turning points in the research on human development in the context of more general changes in social sciences which are observed in ending century. There are distinguished two fundamental changes in the thinking about nature and mechanisms of development in psychology. The first one is related with Jean Piaget contributions to the theory of development which pointing the role of child activity in construction of individual experience. The second one is related to research on life-span development, enliven in last two decades, in the frame which are pointing the plasticity and multidirectionality of developmental changes.
