The Department of Romance Linguistics began its operation on march 1, 2017 as a scientific and didactic unit, conducting work in few branches of linguistics. Currently, the department’s staff consists of eight members. Scientific research conducted by the department's employees is based on modern corpus methodologies and is grounded in contemporary theoretical assumptions. It covers Polish, French and Spanish language areas. Institute’s employees undertake in their research issues from many level of linguistic analysis: semantics, lexis, morphology, syntax, text grammar and broadly understood language pragmatics. Research is also conducted in such sub-disciplines of linguistics as: glottodidactics, acquisition of Spanish language, contrastive grammar of Polish and Romance languages as well as translation.
