Development of scientific cooperation between KUL and Indian Universities
The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin is hosting Professor Aruna Kumar Dash, Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, ICFAI School of Social Sciences, IFHE University in Hyderabad (India). The purpose of his visit is to continue scientific collaboration and to conduct joint research within the framework of an international research project.
The cooperation began with a study that culminated in the publication of the article Revisiting the Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis in South Asian Countries: The Role of Energy Consumption and Trade Openness (Jóźwik, B., Kyophilavong, P., Dash, A. K., & Gavryshkiv, A. V.), published in 2022.
The research is currently being conducted by an international team which, in addition to Professor Dash, includes Professor Pritish Kumar Sahu from the International Management Institute in Bhubaneswar and Professor Siba Prasada Panda from NMIMS University in Mumbai. On behalf of KUL, the project involves Prof. Bartosz Jóźwik, Head of the Department of International Economics, and Prof. Robert Szwed, Head of the Department of Media Culture.
The team is also planning in-depth research on the impact of economic growth and renewable energy consumption on the natural environment in the largest Asian economies – particularly India and China.
During his stay at KUL, Professor Dash is also meeting with students who show great interest in both the topic of India’s economic development and the structure of its higher education system. These meetings provide an opportunity for academic exchange and for students to gain insights into the educational model of one of the world’s most dynamic economies.
The next stage of the cooperation will be the presentation of research results at the prestigious international conference “20th International Convention of the East Asian Economic Association,” which will be held in Manila (Philippines) in November 2025. During the event, the results of the joint Polish-Indian research project will be presented.
“This collaboration is an excellent example of international scientific integration, addressing key environmental and economic challenges of the contemporary world, including analyses related to major global economies such as India and China” emphasizes Prof. Bartosz Jóźwik.
