Bożydar L. J. Kaczmarek

A. R. Luria`s impact upon the science of brain and mind has been very strong, especially in the Western scientific community. He is known mainly as a neuropsychologist but the scope of his interests was much larger including language, cultural and developmental as well as defective psychology. It is stressed that Luria was preoccupied with the revival of "romantic" science which he hoped would overcome the tendency of "classical" scholars to reduce living reality to abstract schemas. Thus, "romantic" science meant for Luria ability to see observed facts from various points of view and being able to make true synthesis of the data gathered.
