Academia in the Service of Refugee Inclusion

On the occasion of World Refugee Day and the completion of the 2022/2023 academic year, the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Rule of Law Institute is pleased to organize an international panel, bringing together experts in the fields of academia, research, humanitarian assistance, and refugee inclusion, to discuss how academia can support refugee inclusion. The Panel Discussion will be followed by the awarding of certificates to the KUL students who have successfully completed the stipulated requirements for KUL’s programme on Refugee Protection and Humanitarian Assistance.
Topics for Discussion:
- The role of academia in welcoming newly arrived refugees to a community
- Using academic settings to foster inclusion and integration of refugees in the host community
- Best practices in conducting academic research with displaced populations and how it can be effectively used to shape policy and humanitarian actions
- How to mobilize students to support refugees and displaced persons
