CUP Meeting KUL 2025
The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin will host the annual meeting of the Catholic Universities Partnership (CUP) – an international initiative bringing together Catholic universities from Central and Eastern Europe and the United States. The network’s activities are coordinated by the Nanovic Institute for European Studies. Its mission is to foster academic cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the development of international partnerships that promote peace, solidarity, and social development in Central and Eastern Europe. The event is organized by the Center for the Study of Diplomacy and the International Relations Office, as part of a project commissioned by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
This year’s edition of CUP Meeting will take place on 19–22 October and will be devoted to the role of science diplomacy in building trust, cooperation, and peace in times of global tensions and crises. The event will bring together representatives of partner universities, experts, researchers, and students from Poland and abroad, creating a space for in-depth reflection and practical exchange of experiences.
The conference program includes expert sessions, panel discussions, presentations of best practices, and networking activities, all aimed at fostering international dialogue on the role of academic communities in reconciliation processes and building lasting peace.
Participants – representing universities from the USA, Croatia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary and Poland – will take part not only in the discussions but also in a series of study visits. They will visit, among others, the Lublin Detention Center, where KUL runs innovative academic programs for prosoners and rehabilitation initiatives, as well as the KUL Faculty of Medicine, where discussions will focus on ethics and diplomacy in the context of medical sciences. The program will also include a visit to the KUL Old Mansion in Kazimierz Dolny – Rajchertówka, where the integration and workshops components take place.
CUP Meeting KUL 2025 will be a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience as well as a forum for dialogue between cultures and academic communities, focused on jointly seeking solutions to contemporary social and geopolitical challenges.
