Dr Tomasz Sieniow, LL.M. Associate Professor


Academic Career:

Graduate of Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of Lublin (M.A. in Law - 1997) and Chicago-Kent College of Law (LL.M. in International and Comparative Law – 2000). Holds Ph.D. in law from Catholic University of Lublin (2003) on the dissertation topic of “Exhaustion of Patent Rights – Comparative Study”. He was Tempus Exchange Student (1996) and Visiting Research Fellow (2002) at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Visiting Scholar at Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University of Note Dame (2008).  Full-time Faculty member in the Department of European Union Law, first as an Assistant (since 1998) and then Associate Professor (2005) .


University Functions:

Deputy Director of the Center for American Law (2000-2004); Coordinator of the Summer School of Human Rights and European Law (2001-2003); Coordinator of Refugee Section of KUL Legal Clinic (2004 – present); Member of the University Strategic Development Task Force (2000-2001, 2006-2007 and 2010-2011); Socrates Erasmus Student Exchange Law Faculty Coordinator (2000-2005); ECTS Law Faculty Coordinator (2000-2008); Member of the Law Faculty Council (2006-present), Dean's Pelnipotentiary for developing European Studies in English.


Professional Experience:

Staff Attorney for American Bar Association – Central and East European Law Initiative (1997-1999), Reporter of Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (1997-1998), Observer for International Commission of Jurists (1997), Assistant Director of Project Poland at Chicago Kent College of Law (1999-2000), President of the Board of the Rule of Law Institute (2001-present), Member of the Board of the Faculty of Law Alumni Association (2006-present).


Courses taught:

European Union Law, Refugee Law and Introduction to American Legal System.
