Prof. Paweł Matyaszewski honoured with a La Brède-Mairie Medal

On 26 November 2011 at a meeting organized by "Cercle des Amis de Montesquieu" in La Brède, France, prof. Paweł Matyaszewski (Institute of Roman Studies KUL) was awarded a La Brède-Mairie Medal, which was issued in 2005 on the 250th anniversary of the death of Montesquieu.

Sister Profesor Zdybicka Honoured

S. prof. Zofia Zdybicka was honoured during a symposium on the Person and Work of Blessed John Paul II, which was organized by the John Paul II Philosophical, Ethical and Social Study in Paris, Institute of Classical Studies KUL, Polish Catholic Mission in France, Department of the Philosophy of God KUL on 14-15 May 2011.

Phoenix 2011 Prize (Feniks 2011) for S. prof. Zofia Zdybicka

Phoenx 2011 Prize of the Society of Catholic Publishers (Stowarzyszenie Wydawców Katolickich) was awarded to S. Prof. Zofia Zdybicka. The prize was granted for creating and popularizing the classic school of philosophy of religion around the world, and creative engagement in the work of Primate’s Social Council and the whole Polish Church.

Employees of Department of Zoology and Invertebrate Ecology awarded with Platinium Chestnut Prize (Platynowy Kasztan)

On 25 March 2011 employees of Department of Zoology and Invertebrate Ecology received Platinum Chestnut Prize (Platynowy Kasztan) from Mayor of Lublin City. The Award was granted for engaging biological methods into controlling horse-chestnut leaf miner (Cameraria ohridella).

Rev. Prof. Bronisław W. Zubert as honorary doctor of Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest, Hungary

Rev. Prof. Bronisław Wenanty Zubert OFM, a research worker of the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of KUL received an honorary doctorate of Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest. The ceremony of awarding the title took place on May, 2011.

The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin was in the top of ranking for the adaptation of Polish universities to the needs of the hearing-impaired people. It was carried out by the portal for people with hearing problems Słuchowisko.net.

Victory in the national competition „Top Science - The Grass is greener on the other side of the fence”

On April 20, 2010 the results of the national competition for the outstanding achievements of Polish science within the project “The Grass is greener on the other side of the fence – the promotion of Polish science achievements” were announced. In the category of humanities and social sciences the Jury awarded the grand prize for the thesis “Study on addiction from gambling” to DR. BERNADETA LELONEK, the graduate of KUL.

KUL as the Ambassador of Lublin Region 2009

The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin was awarded the title of the Ambassador of Lublin Region 2009. This distinction has been granting for 11 years for promotion of Lublin region in Poland and abroad.

Honourable mention in the competition for the best master’s thesis in the area of European Law “LUMINARY”

Ms Berenice Hofman, a graduate of KUL was given an award in the National Competition for the best master’s thesis in the field of European Law “LUMINARY” for a thesis “The Child as a legal entity under the convention on the Rights of the Child”.
