The research of the Department's of Ancient and Medieval Philosophy members is focused on Plato and Aristotle, their ancient commentators, Ancient and Medieval Neoplatonism, Byzantine philosophy and the philosophy of mature Middle Ages (Scotus, Ockham). The International Jubilee Scotus Symposium, organized by Department's staff under the direction of Father Zieliński, and held on April 8-10, 2008, commemorated 700th Anniversary of Scotus' birth. The international conference "Eriugena-Cusanus," prepared in collaboration with the Institut für Cusanus-Forschung at Trier, is planned to be held in September 2009.

 

Agnieszka Kijewska contributes to this Institute's work on Cusanus-Portal works with the members of this Institute on launching the Cusanus-Portal. She is providing a joint supervision, together with Professor Christian Tornau of Jena University, to the doctoral dissertation of a Catholic University of Lublin student. She collaborates also with the Institute of Philosophy at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). In 2007, she pronounced a lecture taught a course / at KULeuven. She is also the President of the Polish Chapter of International Society of Neoplatonic Studies. Marcin Podbielski works with ISNS representatives on the Society's 2009 annual conference.
