Od kilku lat można zaobserwować wzmożone zainteresowanie klasyczną tematyką teologiczną przez analitycznych fi lozofów religii, a równocześnie zwrócenie się wielu teologów w stronę narzędzi analitycznych, w których dawniej dostrzegano jedynie gry językowe, a dziś docenia się ich przydatność (przynajmniej w jakiejś mierze). To sprawia, że wydawać się może, iż współczesna teologia rozwija się w dwóch prędkościach – jako syntetyczne obejmowanie całości rzeczywistości i analityczne poszukiwanie spójności. To rezultat długiego procesu, który wyznacza pokonanie paradygmatu logiki pozytywistycznej i stworzenie programu tzw. teologii analitycznej. W programowej publikacji z 2009 roku zostały sformułowane podstawowe zadania tej teologii, która kontynuuje drogę teologii fi lozofi cznej. Z jednej strony jej postulaty dotyczą troski o klarowność i skupiają się na analizach zdań związanych z kwestiami teologicznymi, a z drugiej – niektórzy przedstawiciele teologii analitycznej dostrzegają w niej duchowy potencjał: teoretyczne rozumowanie służy również chrześcijańskiej drodze cnót (zarówno moralnych, jak i intelektualnych). Śledząc najnowszą literaturę tematu, artykuł wskazuje również na słabe i mocne strony teologii analitycznej oraz wyzwania, jakie rodzi pojawienie się jej na teologicznej scenie w XXI wieku.

THEOLOGY OF TWO SPEEDS? THE PURPOSE, METHOD AND PERSPECTIVES OF ANALYTIC THEOLOGY

Recently there has been an increased interest in classical theological matters by philosophers of religion and at the same time the positive attitude of theologians towards analytical tools which have been previously regarded as some kind of “language games”. It seems that contemporary theology develops at two speeds, namely as an attempt to synthetic embracing of the whole reality but also as analytical search for consistency and coherence. This is the result of a long process which overcomes the paradigm of positivist logic and creates a program of the so-called analytic theology. The main text of this movement, published in 2009, formulated the basic tasks of analytical theology which is the continuation of philosophical theology. On the one hand it voices concern for conceptual clarity and focuses on the analysis of sentences with clear theological meanings. On the other hand, some representatives of analytic theology perceive its spiritual potential. Theoretical reasoning also serves the Christian way of virtues, both moral and intellectual. Following the latest literature of the subject, the article emphasises the strengths and weaknesses of analytic theology and the challenges which arise with its presence at the theological scene of the 21st century.
