Summary

Religious poetry, whose major inspirations lie in the person, teachings and salutary act of Jesus Christ, uncovers the deepest layers of the Christian soul. It is a mirror reflecting the light of God’s revelation, and also presenting the depth of aspirations and yearnings of the present-day Christian. The analysis of poems inspired by christology enables us to sketch the spiritual profile of the Christian who lives his faith, being simultaneously immersed in the world, oftentimes permeated with anti-values. It is the Christian who is aware of their identity, admitting their faith in Christ with courage and searching for the solutions of the mysteries of their existence in Him. Being immersed in the world prevents them from being lost during the queries, since Christ remains a constant point of reference. The real anchoring of their reflection in christology fulfils the anthropocentrism of their expectations and gives new meaning in the christocentrism of faith that searches for understanding.
