Value and Morality in the Philosophy
of Dietrich von Hildebrand

Abstract

The aim of the course is to explain and discuss critically selected central themes of the moral philosophy of Dietrich von Hildebrand. After an introductory part devoted to von Hildebrand´s life and work, I will discuss his moral epistemology, his concept of value, his account of deliberate wrongdoing, and his theory of value blindness. The course will conclude with a presentation of unpublished manuscripts on the roots of moral evil.
