Head of the Chair of Psychology of Individual Differences. He is author of 300 publications, among others the books Achievement of Gifted Students, Personality and Artistic Achievement of Music School Students, Personality-based Determinants of Attitudes towards the Disabled, and Psychology of Abilities: Current Research Trends, World of values of gifted students. He has published in prestigious international scientific journals such as Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Science, High Ability Studies, Journal of Visual Impairment & Blindness, and Zeitschrift fűr Heilpädagogik. In the years 1999 to 2018 the Head of the Departament was Vice-chair of the Polish Psychological Association. Since 2018 he has been member of the Presidium of Main Board of the Polish Psychological Association and since 1999 - Editor-in-chief of Przegląd Psychologiczny (The Review of Psychology). As a Fulbright and Humboldt Fellow and a Kościuszko Fund Fellow, Professor Sękowski has been on placement in numerous foreign scientific institutions, among others in the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy. During the scholarship period, he conducted research at Yale University’s PACE Center (Investigating the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies and Expertise) run by Prof. R.J. Sternberg and at Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, where he co-operated with Prof. Kurt Heller. His scientific interests primarily concern giftedness and social attitudes towards disabled persons. For the last ten years, he has run training courses and workshops in psychology for gifted children and adults in Poland, Germany, and the USA.

 

 

Barbara Cichy-Jasiocha, PhD

An adjunct lecturer at the Department of Psychology of Individual Differences. She defented her doctoral disseration (under the supervision of Professor Andrzej Sękowski) entitled The selected psychological determinants of the subjective quality of life among artistically gifted adults. Her scientific interests focus on the issues of high abilities, gifted education, creativity, achievements motivation in professional careers, as well as psychotherapy and art therapy techniques. The author of the monograph entitled The subjective quality of life of artistically gifted adult. She runs trainings and workshops using various art therapy techniques and unconventional teaching methods. From 2010 to 2021she worked with the Editor Office of The Review of Psychology. She assists patients in the Psychological Cabinet at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Since 2018, she has been preparing for a psychotherapist’s certificate of the Scientific Section of Psychotherapy of the Polish Psychiatric Association affiliated by the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University. She is a member of the Polish Psychiatric Association and the Scientific Section of Psychotherapy of the Polish Psychiatric Association.

 

 

Martyna Płudowska, PhD

An adjunct lecturer at the Chair of Psychology of Individual Differences. She defented her doctoral disseration: The selected psychological correlates of the quality of life in people with materialistic orientation. Her main research interests are focused on contemporary social transformations and their consequences on the psychosocial functioning of the individuals, as well as creativity, gifted education and achievement motivation.

She graduated psychology at The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, her master’s thesis: Achievement motivation of full time and part time workers and their personality, supervisor o. dr hab.
