The NAWA Summer Courses organized by our School this year last 4 weeks (6 July – 2 August 2026) and include approximately 100 hours of language instruction, a sightseeing program, and cultural activities.

 

The course, accommodation, and meals are free of charge for participants.

WHAT DO WE OFFER SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS?

Language Program

(Moderately intensive, 25 hours* per week)

The program includes:

  • Polish language classes – 20 hours per week
    (*1 class hour = 45 minutes). Participants will be divided into groups based on a placement test conducted on the first day of the course.

  • Lectures (on Polish culture, literature, music, economics, as well as Polish history and important contemporary issues) – 4 hours per week.

  • Seminars related to the lecture topics, deepening the knowledge presented during lectures – 1 hour per week.

Course participants are required to attend classes regularly. Up to 15% absence from language classes is permitted.

Cultural Program

The cultural program includes:

  • Weekly folklore workshops in groups (e.g., dance workshops – learning regional dances and songs);

  • Screenings of Polish films (1 film per week);

  • Cultural outings (concerts, exhibitions – at least once a week, depending on current cultural events);

  • Integration events with elements of the cultural program (e.g., an evening of participants’ country presentations, the Polish pronunciation contest named „Chrząszcz ze Szczebrzeszyna”).

Sightseeing Program

The sightseeing program includes:

  • One-day coach trips (1 trip per week) to attractive historical cities, e.g., Warsaw, Sandomierz, Kozłówka, Zamość (the exact destinations and dates are announced on the School’s website before the course begins);

  • Guided tours in Lublin – including the Lublin Village Open-Air Museum and the Majdanek Museum;

  • Visits to culturally significant places such as the UMCS Academic Centre for Culture and Media “Chatka Żaka”.

 

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided in the KUL Student Residence Hall – double rooms with free Wi-Fi access; 1 bathroom shared between 2 rooms. A kitchen equipped with a refrigerator and basic kitchen appliances is also available.

Meals

HOW TO APPLY?

 

Complete the Application Form – active only until all places are filled: KUL - Application form - NAWA Summer Courses (remember to provide your university email address in the form! This is important as it confirms the required student/academic staff status).

 

You will receive a response within 2 weeks.

Eligibility

The course is open to:

  • Students and doctoral candidates of foreign universities,

  • Academic teachers of foreign universities,

who are foreigners or hold dual citizenship (Polish and another country), for whom Polish is not their first language, who do not study, work, or reside in Poland, and who have at least B1 level proficiency in Polish or English.

This means that beginners in Polish are also welcome to participate in the course.



The NAWA Summer Courses are financed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
