Department of Social Microstructures and Contemporary Sociological Theories

During 2003-2010 the Department organized six international scientific conferences: "Man and Market", "Religion and Economy" , "New Economy and Society", " "Modernity-Postmodernity-Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe", " Culture and Market", "E-economy - E-society in the Middle and East Europe" and " Partnership and Cooperation against Social-Economic Crisis in the Middle and East Europe". More than 900 guests from eight countries, eg Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Moldavia, Belarus, Georgia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and numerous Polish academic centers took part in the conferences.

In 2011 the recurrent 12 th international scientific conference is being planned.

Department of Social Microstructures and Contemporary Sociological Theories organizes also specialized meeting-workshops for sociology students. In 2006 students had an occasion to meet the first president of Slovakia Michal Kovac that accepted invitation of the Department and met with its students.

In 2007 Paolo Iannone, Vice-President of the Management Board of Bank Pekao SA.

Four books and sixty articles (also by the foreign publishers) have been published since 2003. There are two habilitation dissertations being prepared and several doctoral theses to be defended. At the moment there are twenty participants (also from the neighbouring countries Ukraine and Lithuania) in the doctoral seminar led by prof. dr hab. inż. Sławomir Partycki.
