October 1, 2020, the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art History, together with the Department of the History of Ecclesiastical Art and Museology, created one Department of Arts Studies from Antiquity to the Present.

 

The Department of Modern Art History was founded in 1974 (since 2014: The Department of Modern and Contemporary Art History). Ongoing research at the Department include Polish and European modern and contemporary art and criticism, as well as their cross-disciplinary connections. The employees of the Department are also engaged in the artistic life of the city and Lublin region. The conducted research resulted in organizing a number of scholar conferences – including thematic Paragone, held from 2015, devoted to sculpture and architecture and phenomena going beyond the limits of these disciplines.
