The Department of Dutch Literature was established in October 2019 as a separate unit from the current Department of Dutch Literature and Language. The staff of the Department continue their current research, which focuses on the following issues:

 

dr hab. Marcin Polkowski, prof. KUL:

- the literary culture of the Netherlands in interaction with the Christian sacrum (esp. The Middle Ages - 17th century);

- spatial issues in literature (especially the literary image of the city in Dutch literature);

- Polish-Dutch and Anglo-Dutch relations (esp. the 16th-18th centuries), monuments of Dutch literature in the collections of Polish libraries;

- the history and culture of the Netherlands (especially the Middle Ages - the 18th century, the history of the Church in the Netherlands, World War II in Belgium and the Netherlands);

- canon of Dutch literature, literary translation.

 

dr Joanna Włodarczyk-Kaziród:

- regional literature of the 19th/20th century in Belgium and the Netherlands;

- reception of Polish literature in Belgium and the Netherlands;

- Wiesław Myśliwski's prose in Dutch translations.

- cultural differences between Poland and the Netherlands/Belgium in the workplace.

- reception of Polish literature in the Dutch language area;

- reception of Dutch literature in Poland;

- juryslinguistics and legal translations.

 

 

There are currently two PhD students assosciated with the Department of Dutch Literature at the Catholic University of Lublin:

 

mgr Damian Olszewski

- anthropomorphization of animals in contemporary Dutch literature;

- oral literature of Suriname;

- fairy tales and their contemporary retellings;

- Polish and Dutch science fiction.

 

mgr Tomasz Chojnacki

- Holocaust literature in the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland;

- personal document literature in the Netherlands and Poland;

- history of the Netherlands and Poland (especially World War II, issues related to the Holocaust and German occupation).
