The Institute of Legal Sciences conducts research on the following prowinces of law:

  • American and Comparative Law (comparative approach to various aspects of the US and Polish constitutions)
  • History of State and Law (history of Polish political system and law after 1918; history of political systems and laws of the USA, Great Britain and Ukraine; legal status of non-Catholic churches and other denominational unions in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth; Polish penal law before 1795)
  • Human Rights (legal systems of protection of human rights; universal, European and supranational system of protection of human rights; subjective rights)
  • Philosophy of Law (European philosophy of law; Chinese philosophy of law, Japanese philosophy of law; Korean philosophy of law; idea of law; axiology of law; methodology of legal sciences; analytical philosophy of law; French and German philosophy of law)
  • Civil Law (application of similar law in labour agreements; matrimonial regime; cooperative law; inheritance law; civil law in environmental protection; purchase of property by foreigners; agreements in banking and insurance system; bankruptcy law and recovery proceedings; aspects of public law and private law as related to banking law; real property trading; damage and indemnity)
  • Civil Procedure (influence of penal proceedings over civil proceedings; general theory of a lawsuit; jurisdictional activity of courts in civil cases)
