3.Why did you decide to apply in the Erasmus+ programme?

To me, Erasmus denotes new opportunities, new relationships, both professional and personal. I applied for an Erasmus+ programme in Moldova due to the opportunity for professional scientific consultations as well. Consultations with Moldovan experts will help me to show the mechanisms shaping Moldova’s policy, shortly after the end of the Cold War to the present day. I am convinced that the resources and consultations will allow me to find answers on questions regarding Moldova’s European policy.

4.Your personal experience/what did you like about your mobility/what did you gain thanks to it?

I met several interesting people and made professional acquaintances. Moreover, I had an opportunity to meet and converse with students from Moldova who learn Polish. It was an interesting experience. Apart from that, I hold in high regard the opportunity to converse and answer questions coming from Moldovan students.

Lecturing in the framework of Erasmus+ programme offers opportunities for meeting new people, broadens one’s knowledge of the hosting country and provides a fertile ground for making professional and personal acquaintances, which will surely become beneficial as regards work in the future. Moreover, such an experience presents added value for the university.

3.Why did you decide to apply in the Erasmus+ programme?

I decided to apply in the Erasmus+ programme to experience teaching and lecturing at an American university and to share my expertise in American literature with students and faculty of the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

4.Your personal experience/what did you like about your mobility/what did you gain thanks to it?

My visit to UMass, Boston was an excellent opportunity to try my teaching methods with a different student audience. I taught several classes, gave lectures and was able to participate in some of the undergraduate and graduate level classes as an observer. In this way I was able to experience teaching from various perspectives and to learn from my American colleagues. I managed to establish new professional connections and exchange ideas about my discipline with American professors. Last but not least, visiting New England was of particular importance for me as an American literature scholar since this is the area where a lot of important literary movements originated and a place which inspired a number of literary figures and their work.

5. Why would you recommend it to others?

I am convinced that Erasmus+ programme offers a unique opportunity to experience teaching in a different cultural context as well as to establish connections with faculty and students abroad. It is inspiring and enriching for any academic to familiarize oneself with the best practices at foreign universities and a great chance to develop professionally. Finally, the knowledge and experience gained during the mobility can be shared with scholars at our home institutions and be of benefit to a larger group of faculty and students.
