RESIDENCE REGISTRATION:

One of the legal duties for each person living in Poland is getting a registered residence address (meldunek). Foreigners spending in Poland over 30 days, are obliged to file for their temporary registered address on the territory of Poland. If you will be in Poland for less than 30 days, you do not have to register.

Citizens of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland, should register no later than 30 days after arrival.

Citizens of all other countries of the world must register no later than on the 4th day after their arrival.

Remember that you can only register for the period of time indicated on your visa or other document authorizing you to stay in Poland.

Documents needed for the registration:

  • application_form_for_registration
  • A valid travel document or other valid document confirming the identity (and visa for non-EU citizens)
  • A document confirming the right to reside in Poland.
  • A document showing you are entitled to use or own the place you are staying at e.g. lease contract (original copy) or a statement from the owner of the place you are staying at if you do not have any rights towards this building or flat. For students living in the university dormitory: you need to print out the abovementioned application form for registration stamped with 2 dormitory stamps: dormitory stamp + stamp of the dormitory director.
