Specjalizuję się w historii filozofii orientalnych, zwł. indyjskiej i chińskiej, oraz w kulturoznawstwie orientalistycznym.

Kontynuuję badanie i nauczanie historii filozofii orientalnych zapoczątkowane na KUL przez prof. Maurycego Straszewskiego (w latach 1918-19) i wznowione przez ks. doc. Franciszka Tokarza (w latach 1952-70). Jestem bezpośrednim uczniem wykładowców filozofii indyjskiej i sanskrytu na KUL: dra Leona Cyborana (nauczał w latach 1973-77) oraz dra Tomasza Rucińskiego (nauczał - 1977-87), pod którego kierunkiem napisałem zarówno moją pracę magisterską: Teoria dharm sarvāstivādinów na podstawie traktatu "Pañcavastukaśāstra" Vasumitry (1981), jak i doktorską: Teoria znaczenia jako "wykluczenia innych znaczeń" (anyāpohavāda), na podstawie "Tattvasaňgrahy" Śāntarakşity i Kamālaśīli (pisana 1984-87, obrona: 1989), a także prof. Tadeusza Margula (UMCS), pod którego kierunkiem zacząłem wdrażać się do filozofii chińskiej i klasycznego języka chińskiego.

My special area of interest is the history of Oriental philosophies, esp. of Indian and Chinese ones, and cultural studies with Orientalist inclination.

I continued the research and teaching in the history of Oriental philosophy initiated at the Catholic University of Lublin by prof. Maurycy Straszewski (in 1918-19) and resumed by Fr. Prof. Franciszek Tokarz (1952-1970). My direct Masters in Indian philosophy and Sanskrit were: Dr. Leon Cyboran (who taught at KUL in the years 1973-1977) and Dr. Thomas Ruciński (taught here from 1977 to 1987). Under the direction of the latter I wrote both my master's thesis: Sarvāstivādins' theory of dharmas  according to "Pañcavastukaśāstra" of Vasumitra (1981) and my PhD dissertation: Theory of meaning as "exclusion of other meanings" (anyāpohavāda), based on "Tattvasaňgraha" of Śāntarakşita and Kamālaśīla (written between 1984 and 1987, defense: 1989). Another Master of mine was Prof. Tadeusz Margul, (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University of Lublin), under whose guidance (1978-1984) I began my acquaintance with Chinese philosophy and classical Chinese language.
